Google's YouTube seals Disney content pact
And in content, video is becoming King. But how to make money from that content.
Ads are now more easily rolled into video. But payouts are still based on instant action by the viewer, with the exception being impression advertisements.
Anyway...............
According to the new deal signed with Disney, however, only short-form content from Disney will be delivered to YouTube. In addition, Disney has retained the right to sell its own advertising alongside Disney content "channels" to be made available on YouTube, the companies said in a joint announcement.
Comment by me: That is a good deal.
Content from Disney's ESPN cable sports network is scheduled to begin appearing on the video service in mid-April, while content from Disney's ABC network is slated to appear in early May.
A Web site previewing the upcoming ABC YouTube channel says it will include "original video, sneak peeks, recaps and moments" from shows including "Grey's Anatomy" and "Lost."
A preview site for the ESPN YouTube channel now includes segments from "SportsCenter" and a clip of golfer Tiger Woods putting.
In addition to its talks with Google, Disney is in separate negotiations to take a stake in the ad-supported streaming site Hulu and to present its content there too, according to a report in the online edition of The Wall Street Journal.
