When I first started watching the show, I thought he was tucking two of his children in and was telling them the story. But you know, that does not really work.

So instead, I think he must be this 90 year old man holding a machine gun and standing on a water tower and telling the story as his elderly children are trying to talk him down.

So was their mother this really nice lady? That is the way I first pictured her. Now I am thinking she is someone who with their children drove this old man totally insane. And he is thinking about the good times before he met the mother of his future monsters.

And the show will end with an elderly Barney flying down in a helicopter to rescue him.
