New Lobbying Group Calls for Internet Censorship
Okay, they actually call it filtering for copyright infringement.
Basically, you will have monopolist with unproven copyrights who want to block material they claim someone else does not own but without having to prove who the owner is.
Quote:
Behind the lobby are AT&T, Cisco Systems, Microsoft, NBC Universal, Viacom and the Songwriters Guild of America. Among other things, the lobby, called Arts+Labs, says "network operators must have the flexibility to manage and expand their networks to defend against net pollution and illegal file-trafficking which threatens to congest and delay the network for all consumers."
Opinion:
Even as the FCC pretended to be calling for net neutrality pretty much everything the ISP's have been doing is to kill net neutrality and the reality is that the FCC is winking and nodding except when they go up against someone with as much legal power, high powered lawyers, as AT&T and the others have.
Quote:
Running the new lobby is Mike McCurry, President Clinton's press secretary and departing chairman of Hands off the Internet, a group of telcos and others opposing net neutrality.
Opinion:
The Democrats will destroy net neutrality when given the chance.
