2 Gay Tea Partiers Discuss Gay Marriage And Bigotry

They make some points that are valid and some points that maybe aren't so valid. The elite media tends to just present the for / against on the issue without the nuances on the issue so it is good to hear other perspectives.

There are pluses to marriage and there are negatives to marriage regardless of whether a person is straight or gay. You won't hear it in the elite media so much, but while gay marriage has been made a major issue in America, a lot of men and women are deciding against marriage. A growing segment of society does want independence from government and also from their lover. They do not want the legal entanglements of marriage.

Some of the better marriages aren't where the couple make a grand spectacle of themself in cermony but where they just move in together and perhaps not even really plan a long term relationship. Over a period of time they realize they are coupled for life. They may not call it a marriage but marriage just happens.

That kind of marriage may not be called a marriage. It may lack both the benefits and hassles of marriage. It may make Preachers angry. It may make make gay activist angry. Regardless, it if works for the couple then that is their business and not anyone elses.

I was watching some show. I think it was on CNN. They first had a Preacher doing his anti gay marriage bit. Then they had two dudes on who were really nervous presenting the pro gay marriage bit. At the end of the interview they were asked if they wanted to get married. It was funny watching them squirm cause they obviously were not at a point in their relationship where they wanted to make that kind of commitment.

I think at the end of the day, the debate isn't really about marriage. It is about rights. It is about stopping discrimination. It is about believing in the Constitution and Equal Protection Under the law and opposing the mob rule that pits Americans against one another.
