Actor Gary Coleman Near Death and On Life Support

"Diff'rent Strokes" star Gary Coleman has been placed on life support in a Utah hospital after suffering a brain hemorrhage earlier this week, his manager said in a statement released by the hospital on Friday.

Coleman, 42, was hospitalized on Wednesday after suffering an intracranial hemorrhage at his home in Utah, and the following day he was "conscious and lucid" before his condition worsened.

Gary Coleman has had health problems off and on for most of this year. He has been hospitalized with seizures twice this year.

Gary Coleman was born with an auto-immune disease that damaged his kidney's shortly after birth. Gary Coleman has had two kidney transplants with one in 1973 and one in 1984. He has been on daily dialysis.

Gary Coleman was born Feb. 8, 1968. He was on the popular TV show Different Strokes as character Arnold Jackson 1978-1986. In the TV show he played the part of an adopted child. In real life he was adopted by Edmonia Sue, a nurse practitioner, and W.G. Coleman, a fork-lift operator.
