Apple Purged over 5,000 apps thus giving in to Haters
Apple recently began purging over 5,000 "overtly sexual" apps from the App Store after customer complaints caused Apple to reverse a policy that had allowed such apps to be approved.
I can sympathize with Apple, but only up to a point. There is currently a fairly large group of people in this Country who have nothing better to do than look for things to complain about. At first dealing you don't want to offend the people. But then you have to consider how much they have gone out of their way, how long it took them, to find the content they think is "too sexual."
Then you have to wonder exactly what drove them to investigate the content. Is it that they don't want to see the content. Is it that they don't want their children to see the content. Is it simply that they don't want anyone to see the content. With that last is it, you have to consider is the person actually being motivated out of morality or out of the fact that they are narrow minded book burners.
When we look at Apple we have to consider if we want to associate ourselves with a company that gives haters more of an ear than people who believe in free speech. At the end of the day, Apple can do what ever they want. At the end of the day we can either want to deal with Apple or just leave Apple to the book burners and see how that works out for them.
