In the first three months of 2007, according to Nielsen/NetRatings, approximately one in three visitors to adult entertainment Web sites was female; during the same period, nearly 13 million American women were checking out porn online at least once each month.
In a 2006 study at McGill University, researchers monitored genital temperature changes to measure sexual arousal and found that, when shown porn clips, men and women alike began displaying arousal within 30 seconds; men reached maximum arousal in about 11 minutes, women in about 12 (a statistically negligible difference, according to the study).
My Opinion:
Women like sex as much as men. To some degree they may actually like sexual fantasy even more than men. But, they are also more likely to be turned off by sexual fantasy when they see something they don't like. At what point does a turn on suddenly become, okay, that is just gross? Maybe it is just me being sexist but I think women are more likely to be turned on by a softcore romance type movie with good looking men and women than more hardcore explicit movies. Of course the psychology of sex is different for everyone. Man or woman, the brain is the biggest sex organ. Fantasy comes into play whether it is a relationship or just sex. The body is doing one thing but the mind is already considering the next thing; unless of course you are just doing the ordinary one position, and you are already married, and....okay...probably even then you are thinking about something..is it baking or golf...eh whatever. Yeah, I know. Sexist. If a couple is hitting it off, at what point is the fantasy more about the prospects for the relationship than sex. At what point does the fantasy of walking down the aisle make you all moist down there. Okay, now that is just gross. :-) I think the majority of people likes erotica and fantasy whether it is a DVD or the beautiful person sitting 3 rows up from them in church. The main thing to always remember is that while fantasy can be fun, reality has consequences.
