Gale Storm, 1950s Sitcom Star, Dies at 87

Gale Storm, 87, was a feel good comic actress and singer of 1950's TV. My Little Margie and the Gale Storm Show may not be quite as well known as some other shows of the time, but Gale Storm was good.

Josephine Owaissa Cottle, won a talent contest in her native Texas that brought her to Hollywood at age 17. Her life was a true Hollywood Story. Her small town freshness would not make her a big Movie Star but she was just right for television; and through that media she was transformed from Josephine Cottle to Gale Storm to My Little Margie. In 1952 My Little Margie began as a summer replacement for "I Love Lucy." By all accounts it became an instant hit.
.

As all Hollywood Stories, her story has an ending. She died June 27, 2009 at a convalescent hospital in Danville, Calif. No cause of death was reported but in truth the cause of all of our eventual deaths is the simple fact that we have been born, and for her birth and her life we should rejoice. She brought smiles to many faces.
